So after a slow summer of climbing last year, I have finally “laced” up my climbing shoes five times already and have had some great outings so far this spring. Hopefully, I’m on the right road to redemption. I’ve been climbing at Exit 38 in Seattle, and in both Paradise and Gallatin Valleys so far this year. The rock has been excellent and for the most part I’ve shaken off the old rust. My most recent adventure was the classic route in the Gallatin Valley called “Spare Rib.” I eyed this a few summers ago when I was climbing the Standard Route up Gallatin tower. It’s a wonderfully prominent and fairly exposed two pitch 5.8 that’s about a 45 minute walk from the car. It took us two trips to actually climb it in its entirety, as we got blown off the first time by some 50mph winds. It is a super route that eats gear, and it has a little of everything to keep you entertained. If you are in the area and looking for something to climb look no further than Spare Rib. You can find out everything you need to know in the Montana Climbing Guide.
If you are interested I gathered a few of the best photos from the friends I was with and put them up in our gallery for your viewing pleasure. You can check them out here: Spare Rib
Marc,
I hope this gets through to you… I am a fan of your current WP Theme, is there any way that you can share with me how you did it? I am new to G2 but have used WP for a while now. I appreciate anything you oare willing to do to help.
Thanks!

Pesh,
Thanks for the kind words and I would be happy to help! My WP theme is a very mildly modified version of the latest stable K2 release that you can find here: http://www.getk2.com/. I just made it a little wider than normal, added a repeating background image in the header, added a few other odds and end CSS stylings. I have called the theme Bridger…
For my gallery I integrated Gallery2 into Wordpress using the WPG2 plug in, which I helped co-found a few years back. Wow has it been that long? You can get that here: http://wpg2.galleryembedded.com/. I’m using the latest 3.x version of the plug in which is currently at RC2. I no longer play a very active role in the major development as ozgreg is the PHP master and my php skills are lacking, but I do still contribute from time to time on pieces that I can help with…
I hope this helps!!!
Hi Marc,
as Pesh, I really like your current style and especially your integration of Gallery2. I’m just setting up my own WP-Blog and I’m trying to combine it with Gallery2, too, but I can’t get it work smoothly.
After searching the web and the support-forums I found your blog and - wow - that’s what I was looking for: the combination of WP/G2/WPG2 and K2. Therefore I would be very pleased if you could send me your theme-files (and maybe special-configurations) as a base for my own blog.
Many thanks in advance!
Henning
